Rick Evans

At the ripe old age of 25 years, the question most asked is "what do you do?" That question is followed up with, "okay, what do you want to do?" Over the last ten years the answer to that question has had several answers.

I love working with my hands. To get dirty, and get it done brings no greater pleasure. Be it taking apart the vacuum cleaner to repair it's power switch, or replacing the suspension on my truck, give me some tools, and I'll get to work.

Of all the places you could have gone, this is where you ended up...

As a second year Industrial Design student at the Academy of Art in San Francisco, I am well on my way to preparing for a career in the design industry. Although my passion is furniture, happiness is in solving a problem. Having and idea and putting it through the design process is extremely enjoyable, and I get real pleasure out of coming up with a final product.

Working in an upholstery shop, I had access to a great assortment of tools and materials. It was only a matter of time before I figured out that design was my passion. In early 2007 a friend commissioned me to create a "holster" for his XBOX 360 controller. We talked it over, and I came up with a few prototypes. It wasn't untill a few days later that inspiration struck. Here is the result.

Blender Repair

When I lived with my buddy Jordan, we threw some pretty great parties. None better then the party that his girlfriend at the time destroyed our blender. In attempt to make us some delicious daiquiris, she turned the thing on with a spatula still in the blending container. Needless to say, daiquiri goo EVERYWHERE. On the ceiling, on the walls, on the floor. But the most painful part was that the blender itself no longer worked.
This is the photo story of the blender resurection
